Joes latest release, The Candle and The Flame, is his 6th CD, and his finest work to date. In this recording, Joe delivers an album that is so personal and so passionate that it shatters any stereotype and places him solidly on the map as one of the finest modern singer songwriters, bar none. The Candle and The Flame combines the many facets of Joes diverse musical background and weaves them all together into an aural tapestry that is stark and exquisite. The album was ranked at #3 in the Folk Charts for September of this year, and is still in the Top Ten. Three single tracks from The Candle and The Flame are also in the Top Ten, placing Joe Jencks as the #2 artist on the chart.
Featured guests include Jon Carroll on piano and keyboards and Pat Wictor on slide guitar. With additional guests Karen Michelle Bergmann on 'cello and vocals, Helena Nash on vocals, and other regional musicians.
Jon Carroll is best known for his work with Mary Chapin Carpenter and Starland Vocal Band, and boasts two Grammy wins, including Best New Artist, and two more Grammy nominations. Pat Wictor has become a name that is being chatted about on the acoustic, blues, folk, and Americana circuits. Steeped in American "roots" music, Wictor is a contemporary songwriter and interpreter drawing on the rural country, gospel, and blues traditions of our nation. Jon and Pat are both accomplished songwriters in their own right, and will be offering some or their original music as well as performing with Joe.
